My mother turned into her neighboring friend Saliha, and I was one of the girls Saliha brought with her to visit grand-mother. We would spend our time sunbathing in the garden when the weather was nice while trying to engage in any conversation with her. She would usually tell us stories about the french colonists who one day assaulted Saliha’s father in the market or when they did a sudden search in another neighbor’s house.
