We had very little Alzheimer’s awareness when it came to all of the symptoms, yet keeping up with the stories was never an issue for us, no matter how strange they were sometimes. You can say that we spontaneously developed the ability to make a connection and travel in time with her. It felt like the best thing to do. Our priority was to make her feel heard, at ease, and safe, even if some memories carried bad emotions. Yet it was very hard in certain situations, like the day she saw my uncle’s friend visiting for the first time.
